Renewed fighting in Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon
Fighting between rival Palestinian groups erupted again on Thursday night in the Lebanese refugee camp Ain al-Hilweh.
The fighting is reportedly between Fatah loyalists, associated with the Palestinian Authority, and more Islamic militant groups.
The camp was rocked by intense fighting in late July after a failed assassination attempt on a leader of a group sympathetic to hardline Islamists that had killed one person. That round of violence left 11 people dead and more than 40 wounded according to UN figures.
In the renewed fighting reported overnight, there were no casualties reported.
Videos shared on social media showed explosions with the sounds of intense gunfire.
Several locals reported that a large group of people fled to a mosque as the fighting resumed.
