The Syrian state news agency SANA reported that an alleged Israeli airstrike in the Damascus neighborhood of Kafar Sousah was responsible for killing five people and wounding 15 others.

Four of the five fatalities were civilians, according to SANA. The fifth fatality was reportedly a soldier. In accordance with military policy, the Israel Defense Forces declined to comment on the incident.

The Syrian regime regularly portrays Israeli operations as attacks on civilians. However, Orient News, a Syrian anti-regime outlet, reported that the alleged Israeli strike targeted Iranian militia officials at the Iranian school in Kafar Sousah.

Syrian media claimed their aerial defenses succeeded in intercepting “most” of the incoming missiles that were launched from across the Golan Heights.

Following a period of relative quiet, the IDF recently increased its operations against Iranian military targets in Syria. Citing an unnamed Israeli military official, the Saudi-owned Elaph news site reported last week that the IDF would target Iranian weapons shipments to Syria that are being disguised as humanitarian aid following the recent devastating earthquake.

“Iran will take advantage of the tragic situation in Syria” in order to deliver more weapons to its terrorist proxy Hezbollah and other terrorist groups in Syria affiliated with the ayatollah regime in Tehran, according to the source.
