Former Gantz foreign policy advisor joins ALL ISRAEL NEWS advisory board
In first interview with ALL ISRAEL NEWS, Melody Sucharewicz discusses Europe’s blindspot to threat from radical Islamism
JERUSALEM – On behalf of our entire team, I’m very pleased to announce that Melody Sucharewicz has joined the Advisory Board of ALL ISRAEL NEWS.
Born and raised in Germany, Sucharewicz is a political communication and strategy consultant, most recently serving as foreign affairs adviser to and international spokesperson for Lt. Gen (res.) Benny Gantz, Israel’s Alternate Prime Minister and Defense Minister.
Sucharewicz joins other prominent Israelis and Americans on the Advisory Board, including:
Danny Ayalon, Israel’s former deputy foreign minister
Steve Linde, the editor-in-chief of The Jerusalem Report and former editor of The Jerusalem Post
Rivka Kidron, former advisor to Israel’s Prime Minister for Diaspora and Christian affairs
Uri Steinberg, former North American Commissioner for Israel’s Ministry of Tourism
Mike Huckabee, former Governor of Arkansas and one of the most prominent Evangelical leaders in the U.S.
David Shedd, former Acting Director of the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency among others
A specialist in European affairs and Israel’s relations with the European Union, Sucharewicz spoke to me in her first interview with ALL ISRAEL NEWS about the serious blindspot many European leaders have towards the grave threat posed by radical Islamism.
"For too long, Europe was kind of ignorant and politically naive about the threats and the actual intentions behind those radical Islamist forces," she told me.
Recent terror attacks in France – including two beheadings – underscore the seriousness of the threat.
We discussed whether French President Emmanuel Macron is finally ready to take on the Islamists in a more aggressive manner.
I also asked Sucharewicz about how she views Turkish President Recep Erdogan, who recently blasted Macron for being anti-Islam.
Here is the video of the our Zoom interview.
Sucharewicz previously acted as director of the German Israel congress, Europe’s biggest pro-Israel event with 3,000 visitors, and as strategic adviser for international relations to Israel’s late President Shimon Peres’ NGO, the Peres Center for Peace.
For more than a decade, she was an independent communication and strategy consultant to government, non-government and private institutions in Israel and Europe, with a focus on strategic initiatives promoting Israeli-European ties.
She also speaks frequently at, or moderates, high profile panels, conferences and events.
In 2006, Sucharewicz won "The Ambassador," an Israeli TV competition demanding high-level diplomatic, political and rhetoric performance in international missions, followed by a year of public diplomacy in the U.S. and Europe as goodwill ambassador. Among others, Melody has spoken at the United Nations and the European Parliament.
Sucharewicz holds a B.A. s.c.l in Sociology and Anthropology, Strategy and Military studies, and an M.Sc. in Management, specializing in Organizational Behavior, both from Tel Aviv University. She is currently completing a Ph.D. at London’s King’s College War Studies Department, focusing on de-radicalization by former Islamist extremists.
