Hamas 'March of Return' may soon make its return
The Hamas terrorist organization that runs the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) announced on Wednesday that the “return camps” on the border between Israel and Gaza would be reorganized.
The announcement was made by the Supreme National Committee in Gaza, comprised of several terrorist organizations in the region.
According to the Hamas-affiliated Al-Risala website, an area in the northern Gaza Strip will be devoted to these camps, which will serve as the first stage in the “March of Return” movement on the border with Israel.
The first “Great March of Return,” took place from March 2018 through December 2019, and saw Gazans protesting violently on an almost weekly basis on the border near southern Israeli communities, with many trying to damage or break through the border fence.
At the time, the Gazans threw Molotov cocktails, fired guns and sent hundreds of kites and helium balloons outfitted with containers of burning fuel into Israel, where they set large swaths of land on fire and destroyed thousands of acres of crops.
The Gaza announcement came just days after Hezbollah warned Israel earlier this week not to target Hamas officials in Lebanon in response to an increase in terror activities against Israeli civilians in Judea and Samaria.
Following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s remark that Iran was behind the growing terrorism in the West Bank, Hezbollah Chief Hassan Nasrallah warned on Monday that any Israeli-initiated assassinations of leaders in Lebanon would “lead to a strong reaction.”
