Hezbollah leader: ‘Israel is nearing its end’
Nasrallah says a proposed Israeli law sentencing to death terrorists convicted of killing Israelis would inspire even more violence
In a video released on Monday, Hezbollah Sec.-Gen. Hassan Nasrallah said he believes the State of Israel may soon end.
“Everything that is happening in Israel is among the signs of the end of this entity,” he stated.
While Nasrallah did not elaborate, his comments likely refer to the widespread internal conflict in Israel over the Netanyahu-led government's efforts to significantly limit the power of the judiciary.
Nasrallah also said a proposed Israeli law that would sentence to death any terrorist convicted of killing an Israeli would inspire even more violence against Israelis.
“Any time your enemy decides to pass a law to execute prisoners, it means he is a fool. … You foolish Zionists, this law will increase the courage of the Palestinian mujahideen to carry out operations,” Nasrallah said.
The bill that Nasrallah referenced passed a preliminary vote in Israel’s Knesset last week, advancing with a vote of 55-9.
Nasrallah has led the Lebanon-based organization Hezbollah since 1992, Backed by the Islamic Republic of Iran, the group has been officially designated by many nations as a terrorist organization.
Hezbollah receives support from Iran, Syria and others, and has often called for the end of the State of Israel.
Nasrallah, himself, has said: “As long as Hezbollah exists, it will never recognize Israel.”
He has also stated, “I am against any reconciliation with Israel. I do not even recognize the presence of a state that is called ‘Israel.’ I consider its presence both unjust and unlawful.”
