Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid landed in Bahrain this morning and will open up an Israeli embassy in Manama later today.
He was welcomed by Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif al-Zayani.
This is the first visit by a minister to Bahrain since relations were formally established last year with the Abraham Accords. Bahrain was the second Gulf country to declare normalization with Israel.
Lapid is scheduled to sign agreements on water, environment and sports during his visit today. Prior to this trip, Lapid visited the United Arab Emirates and Morocco in order to expand upon the Abraham Accords.
