During Israel's Operation Home and Garden in July, a facility was discovered under the mosque, which was used by a terror squad of the Hamas and PIJ terrorist organizations for planning and carrying out attacks. IDF forces found weapons and terror equipment in the facility and in the mosque during that operation.
The terror cell was responsible for a series of attacks in recent months and was planning to carry out another attack in the immediate future.
“The squad carried out an attack on October 14 in the area of the separation fence, in which an IED exploded by cellular activation on a military force arriving at the point. There were no casualties," according to the IDF spokesperson.
Israel Defense Forces recently obtained intelligence indicating that the terrorists were planning a bombing attack. The mosque was used by the terrorists as an operational war room for planning attacks and as a base for carrying them out.
According to military and security intelligence, the terror squad of four to five terrorists planned to carry out a killing spree inspired by Hamas' terrorist attack on the southern communities. The terrorists were equipped with large quantities of weapons and IEDs.
The Palestinian Red Crescent emergency medical service said that one Palestinian was killed and three others injured in the strike.
In addition, the IDF, Israel's Shin Bet security agency and Border Police forces arrested 46 wanted suspects, including 27 Hamas members, over night.
The IDF announced that 727 wanted terror suspects so far have been detained in Judea and Samaria, internationally known as the West Bank, since the beginning of Operation Iron Swords in Gaza. Among those suspects being detained are 480 members of Hamas, as Israel is working to prevent the terror organization from opening a second front.
