Images of 1,000 victims of Hamas assault displayed at Tel Aviv University
More than a thousand portraits filled the empty seats at TAU auditorium
In a joint initiative of Tel Aviv University, along with its TAU Student Union and the United Against Terrorism campaign, 1,000 empty seats at the TAU’s Smolarz Auditorium were filled with images of victims of brutal assault carried out by Hamas terrorists against Israel on Oct. 7.
Over 1,000 photos of victims of every kind, both citizens and IDF soldiers, whether they were murdered, abducted or kidnapped during the Hamas terror massacre, were exhibited in the empty auditorium in Tel Aviv on Thursday, Oct. 19.
The initiative is intended to support Israel’s public diplomacy efforts during the war against Hamas by exposing the extent of the horror inflicted upon Israel by the deadly and heinous attack.
The exhibit is led by Daniel Zilber, chair of the TAU Student Union, in cooperation with the university.
“At this time we are still in the midst of the inferno, in the midst of war… We are here to try to illustrate, even slightly, the extent of the horror, and show the world: We have been butchered. This is neither a slogan nor a cliché: Despite the carnage, we shall triumph,” Zilber said.
The exhibit is also part of a broader initiative led by Shaked Benafshi, who initiated the students' public diplomacy war room, United Against Terrorism, which includes dozens of support rallies and exhibits at approximately 20 leading universities, such as Harvard, Yale, MIT and others across the United States and Europe.
Benafshi explained: “The rallies and exhibits in support of Israel, including the War Room we opened this week, which includes over 100 students all over the world, prove that international solidarity does exist when it comes to unacceptable acts of terrorism. We see students coming together in unprecedented ways, to strengthen Israel’s publicity and stand behind us.”
