In honor of Passover, Ramadan and Easter, President Herzog invites requests for pardons
In an announcement early this morning, the office of Israeli President Isaac Herzog stated he invites members of the public to submit requests for pardons.
“In honor of these holidays, which unite Israeli citizens of all religions – days of sanctity, compassion, and liberty – President Isaac Herzog wishes to remind the general public of the possibility of requesting a pardon and announces that he will consider the spirit of these days in making his decisions,” the announcement said.
The office also said that the requests will be examined according to Herzog’s “established policy” which “gives significant weight to processes of rehabilitation and change.”
The goal of pardons is to “help them return to society” and reintegrate.
Herzog has a history of multiple pardons during his term, although he refuses to pardon sex offenders or domestic violence offenders.
