Iranian senior general reveals cruise missile capable of reaching Israel, expresses desire to kill Trump and former state secretary
Iranian Gen. Amirali Hajizadeh, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' Aerospace Force, reportedly unveiled a new cruise missile on Iranian state TV on Friday. The Paveh missile has a range of 1,650 km (1,025 miles), which means that it could likely reach Israel.
“Our cruise missile, with a range of 1,650 km, has been added to the missile arsenal of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” said Hajizadeh.
The Iranian general also expressed Tehran’s desire to kill former U.S. President Donald Trump and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in revenge for the Trump administration’s assassination of the late Iranian general Qassam Soleimani in January 2020. Soleimani was in charge of implementing the ayatollah regime’s ambitions to build a vast network of terrorist proxies across the Middle East and beyond. Israel reportedly provided Washington with crucial intelligence that facilitated the Soleimani’s elimination.
“God willing, we are looking to kill Trump. Pompeo … and military commanders who issued the order (to kill Soleimani) should be killed,” said Hajizadeh during the TV broadcast.
Soleimani played a central role in Tehran’s efforts to entrench itself militarily in Syria and build a military presence on Israel’s northern border. The Israeli Air Force has consequently bombed hundreds of Iranian military targets across Syria and the Middle East. Due to the increasingly lethal Israeli air strikes, Iranian state media confirmed that Tehran would beef up its aerial defenses in Syria.
"Syria needs to rebuild its air defense network and requires precision bombs for its fighter planes," according to the Iranian state broadcaster, adding, “It is very likely that we will witness the supply by Iran of radars and defense missiles, such as the 15 Khordad system, to reinforce Syria's air defenses."
