Iron Dome intercepts suspected drone over Gaza Strip
Last night, the Israel Defense Forces' Iron Dome system shot down a hostile aircraft, possibly a drone, operating over the Gaza Strip.
There were no red alert alarms sounded because no rockets were launched, according to the IDF.
The explosion was strong enough, however, to cause concern in the communities surrounding Gaza.
An IDF spokesperson said an investigation into the incident is underway but not completed.
This follows an attack on Wednesday, when the Iron Dome intercepted a rocket over the southern city of Sderot.
In video shared on Hebrew-language news sites, the Iron Dome missiles can be seen launching into the air, followed by a large explosion several seconds later.
