Winter storm Barbara, from Europe, hit Israel Monday, bringing rain, hail and snow to Mount Hermon.

The storm hit the north of the country first and is expected to progress south over the coming days.

By early Monday afternoon, Mount Hermon had reported strong winds, thick fog and heavy snow.

While the northern mountainous region could see snow, Jerusalem is not expected to get any snow this storm.

The southern areas of the country are bracing for flooding, as the storm brings heavy rains to the Judean wilderness.

Israel Fire and Rescue services were busy making preparations for the storm yesterday, ensuring that resources were available and expanding coordination with the Israel Police.

By late morning, some injuries related to the storm had been reported. A 13-year-old girl was lightly injured in the Or Yehuda neighborhood of Tel Aviv by a falling tree branch.

The Israel Water Authority also reported that the Sea of Galilee had risen 1.5 centimeters from heavy rain over the last few days.

According to weather forecasters, the coldest day will be Tuesday, with temperatures hitting their lowest point of the season.

Barbara has already hit Greece and Turkey, with the storm causing difficulty for search and rescue efforts in southern Turkey and Syria.

The storm is expected to pass by Thursday.
