The Israeli military successfully intercepted another ballistic missile launched by Houthi rebels in Yemen on Sunday morning.

Israel Defense Forces released a statement, saying, “Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago in several areas in Israel, a missile launched from Yemen was intercepted by the Israeli Air Force prior to crossing into Israeli territory. Sirens were sounded in accordance with protocol.”

On Saturday, the Houthi rebels attempted to launch a ballistic missile towards Israel, however, it broke apart over Saudi Arabia before reaching Israeli territory. According to some Israeli media reports, the missile was intercepted by U.S. air defense systems shortly after launch.

The Houthi rebel group, Ansar Allah, has launched several ballistic missiles at Israel over the past few days after threatening it would resume attacks in support of Hamas if the Gaza ceasefire was broken.

On Friday evening, while many Israelis were finishing the traditional Shabbat meal, air raid sirens across central Israel were activated due to a Houthi ballistic missile, which was also intercepted by the Arrow missile defense system.

According to reports in Palestinian media, shrapnel from the interception of the missile fell in the town of Dahariya, near Hebron.

At the same time, in Yemen, it was reported on Sunday night that several field commanders and leading elements in the missile launch system were killed in U.S. military airstrikes in Marib province.

On Saturday, Houthi media accused the United States of attacking the airport in Hodeida during the latest series of airstrikes carried out by the U.S. against the Houthis over repeated attacks on shipping and U.S. military vessels in the Red Sea, as well as attacks on Israel.

Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah TV reported that three strikes had targeted the Hodeida Airport on Saturday.

While the U.S. military did not issue an official confirmation, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) posted a message on 𝕏, featuring videos of fighter jets launching from an aircraft carrier, accompanied by the hashtag “#HouthisAreTerrorists.”

The official Houthi news agency Saba also reported bombings in the districts of Sahar and Kitaf, in the northern province of Saada, and attacks on the central province of Marib.
