Israeli Minister of Education Yoav Kisch has announced that 2025 will be designated as the “Year of Artificial Intelligence.”

“We are proud to lead a groundbreaking global initiative – a full academic year dedicated to artificial intelligence in education,” Kisch said. “Thanks to an impressive collaboration with leading tech companies and the involvement of thousands of mentors from the high-tech industry, we are shaping an innovative model that will influence the future of education."

The Jerusalem Post reported that the Education Ministry is collaborating with major tech companies, including Google, Microsoft, Apple and Intel.

The report added: “The ministry views artificial intelligence as a tool that empowers educators and creates a more personalized learning experience tailored to individual student needs.”

The initiative “aims to enhance teaching, learning, and management by equipping students and educators with essential AI knowledge and incorporating AI tools into instructional and assessment processes,” the JPost reported.

Israel’s high-tech sector has been actively engaged in the AI industry for many years.

A 2024 analysis of Israel’s role in the global AI industry highlighted that the Jewish state “holds a prominent position on the global AI stage,” with “approximately 2,300 active AI companies” operating in Israel at the time.

Tortoise Media's Global AI Index currently ranks Israel 9th in the world in regards to “AI implementation, innovation and investment.”

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who runs the most advanced AI company worldwide, has also praised Israel’s involvement in artificial intelligence.

“The rate at which the tech and startup community in Israel is embracing AI is incredible to watch,” Altman said during a visit to Israel in 2023. “The energy on making use of the technology and its positive benefits is fantastic to see, and I am sure Israel will play a huge role – its tech community is truly amazing.”
