Jerusalem's Messianic and Evangelical leaders proclaimed a night of corporate prayer and worship for the Land
Leaders of congregations and ministries gathered to intercede for the nation and the government
Last week, a group of about 20 Messianic Jewish and Evangelical Christian leaders in Jerusalem proclaimed a night of intercessory prayer and worship for the congregations in the Jerusalem area.
The leaders – who were cooperating to provide aid packages for evacuated families, families of those killed or taken captive, families of soldiers, and renovating bomb shelters – together decided to proclaim a night of corporate intercession for the nation of Israel.
Several of the leaders involved told ALL ISRAEL NEWS that they sensed that the need to address the spiritual battle had been neglected while the nation prepared for physical war.
Witnessing the power of the united corporate effort in providing relief for those in need, and recognizing the lack of a call to prayer and fasting by the nation’s leaders, they decided to gather the leaders of the congregations and ministries in Jerusalem, to cry out to the God of Israel on behalf of Israel.
Messianic Jewish leaders, Arab Christian leaders, Evangelical Christian leaders and Ethiopian pastors, all gathered for several hours to plead for the mercy of God on the nation of Israel. Israeli band SOLU led worship in between sessions of guided and free prayer.
Leader after leader prayed for the return of the captives, for comfort and healing for the grieving families; for the safety of the believers and churches in Gaza; for the safety of IDF soldiers operating to bring justice and return the captives; and especially for God to turn the hearts of the leaders to Him – to seek His face publicly during the difficult times.
Many of Israel’s political leaders, from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog to Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, have quoted Bible passages or referred to Bible stories or verses since the horrific events of Oct. 7.
However, none of those leaders has called upon the nation of Israel to seek the God of Israel in fasting and prayer. Therefore, these leaders of congregations and ministries decided to call the Body of Messiah in Jerusalem to prayer on behalf of the nation and its leaders.
Pastor Chad Holland of the King of Kings Jerusalem congregation shared how he, along several other Messianic and Evangelical Christian leaders, recently met with the Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs of Israel.
“He was very grateful for the Messianic Jewish community and the Gentile Christian community, that are praying for Israel, supporting our soldiers, supporting our country, but it was almost like he had delegated the prayer…to the believers. It’s almost like they did not even consider that the government needed to take a role in the prayer coverage or intercession for the country,” Holland said.
“What we can do as a body, is to pray for our own government, that they will accept a responsibility…to call the whole nation to pray, whether they’re religious or secular.”
Holland continued: “One thing we can do is intercede for the government to see the power in this, to call for a day of fasting and of prayer for the whole nation.”
Several Israeli Jewish leaders have petitioned the chief rabbis of Israel to issue a call to a national day of prayer and fasting on Monday, Nov 6.
