Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast to host its seventh annual meeting this week
JPB was started by an Israeli politician to bring Jewish and Christian leaders together ‘for the sake of Jerusalem’
The seventh annual Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast is taking place this week in Jerusalem from May 31 to June 1.
With the turbulent events of the last year – from Operation Break the Wave, to the elections in November, to the new coalition government assuming power in January and the recent conflict with Palestinian Islamic Jihad during Operation Shield and Arrow – the focus of many Evangelical Christians around the world is once again on Jerusalem.
Some of the dignitaries and attendees from Sunday's Pentecost event and Isaiah 62 Fast gathering will also be attending the Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast (JPB) this year.
The 2023 Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast is being hosted by Knesset Member Matan Kahana of the National Unity party.
The prayer movement was initiated in 2017 by former Israeli Knesset Member Robert Ilatov.
Ilatov served as the former head of the Knesset Christian Allies Caucus, with a mission “to build direct lines of communication, cooperation, and coordination, between the Knesset and Christian leaders around the world.”
In 2017, in honor of the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem, Ilatov partnered with JPB Founder and CEO Albert Veksler, to establish and organize the first Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast, which hosted more than 500 Jewish and Christian leaders worldwide.
While Ilatov had originally planned the JPB as a one-time event, the attendees were so enthusiastic, they requested that it become an annual event in Jerusalem and suggested that they host similar events in their own nations.
Since then, each year the JPB has brought together government leaders and influential Christian leaders from around the world to Israel’s capital city to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
The JPB team also organizes prayer breakfasts in other nations. Breakfast events have been hosted in 18 cities around the world, in countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Estonia, Singapore, Ghana, Uganda, Netherlands, Finland and others.
This year’s JPB event in Jerusalem will welcome attendees from 47 countries, including many current and former members of government.
