Jpost annual conference features Evangelical pastor in talk on religion and peace
All Arab News advisory board member Rev. Johnnie Moore explains Evangelical Christianity’s role in the U.S. peacemaking
The Jerusalem Post hosted its annual conference virtually for the first time with more than 100,000 live viewers, the news outlet said.
“Shaping the Jewish Future - Politics, Populism and Pandemic” took place on Thursday and featured a myriad of distinguished guests including President Reuven Rivlin, U.S. Ambassador David Friedman and former U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair among others.
Rev. Johnnie Moore, who is on the advisory board of All Arab News, spoke about Evangelical Christians' role in the U.S. peacemaking process.
“The solution for the worst of religion is the best of faith. In the Middle East, the most valuable commodity is not in the ground or natural resource; it is trust," he said. "The currency of religion is trust.”
The opening paragraph of the Abraham Accords signed on Sept. 15 stated: “We, the undersigned, recognize the importance of maintaining and strengthening peace in the Middle East and around the world based on mutual understanding and coexistence, as well as respect for human dignity and freedom, including religious freedom.”
Moore explained that the Abraham Accords was meant to be a religious peace.
“(This is a) peace where religion is not off the table, religion was part of the process," he said. "Perhaps this is one of the reasons why God has blessed it.”
Other topics explored in the virtual conference, including future visions of Zionism where Israelis inhabit the Galilee and Negev, innovation, pandemic control, the impact of the Abraham Accords on peace in the Middle peace, and American presidential elections in November, etc.
