Former chief rabbi says earthquakes in Israel are due to LGBTQ+ community
Former Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Israel Shlomo Amar blamed the LGBTQ+ community for the recent earthquakes in Israel during his weekly teaching.
Rabbi Amar – who currently serves as Sephardic chief rabbi of Jerusalem – quoted a passage from the Talmud, which he said supported his position. He claimed that the rise of gay marriages in Israel is to blame for the earthquakes.
The rabbi has spoken out against the homosexual community before, saying that they cannot be religious.
He also spoke out against the Jerusalem Pride Parade.
