No casualties as rockets hit 4 homes in Israel’s south
Despite heavy rocket barrage, no injuries reported
Following a heavy rocket barrage toward Israel on Wednesday evening, direct hits were reported on four residential buildings in Sderot, Nir Am, Netivot and Ashkelon.
A house in Netivot was hit by parts of a rocket following an interception. The resident was unharmed, as he had taken cover in a shelter at the time of impact.
Yaron Hamias, the resident, said, “I was in the yard and came to my parents' house. There was an alarm, and I went into the shelter. I heard the interception and about two minutes later, I heard a loud explosion. I realized it had fallen here. I went outside and saw dust and smoke. An interceptor engine fell here.”
In Sderot, a rocket landed at the entrance of a house. The family, who were in the shelter at the time, were not injured.
Ashkelon resident Keren Miriam’s house was also hit.
“My life was saved by a miracle. I entered the safe room and it saved my life. I heard a boom and realized something had happened. I waited and when I got out, I saw the warehouses and the car, everything on fire.”
In Beersheva, rocket fragments were found in a park following an interception by Israel's Iron Dome missile defense system.
Following Israel’s elimination of PIJ rocket force commander Ali Ghali this morning, there were at least three reported rocket launches. No hits have been recorded.
Earlier this morning, the Israel Defense Forces said Palestinian terror groups in Gaza had launched over 500 rockets and mortar shells at Israel.
The IDF said air defense systems — both Iron Dome and David’s Sling — intercepted 154 rockets. The military's air defense systems have demonstrated a 95% interception rate of projectiles heading for populated areas, the IDF said.
The military also reported it has carried out 158 strikes against PIJ targets since the campaign began.
No ceasefire has been announced.
