Not just an act: Fauda actor joins real police raid during reserve duty
Tzachi Halevi volunteers with Israel Border Police
Israeli actor Tzachi Halevi, who became famous for his role as an undercover special ops agent in the internationally acclaimed Israeli drama series Fauda, showed that his performance is not just an act.
On Monday, Halevi took part in a real-life police raid as part of his volunteer work with the Israeli Border Police, with pictures showing him armed and ready, along with his police colleagues.
The raid targeted the illegal weapons trade in the city of Lod and led to the arrest of four suspects and the confiscation of multiple weapons, ammunition and drugs, including cocaine and marijuana.
The police action is part of the ongoing efforts to curb an unprecedented crime wave in the Arab-Israeli sector, which has led to almost 200 murders this year.
The hit series Fauda has found worldwide acclaim after being syndicated on Netflix, and even found an audience in Arab countries.
Fauda, meaning chaos in Arabic, features an Israeli elite undercover counter-terrorism unit.
Lior Raz plays the main character Doron Kavilio, a skilled but flawed undercover agent who often confronts his own inner demons while countering dangerous terrorist threats.
The series has been praised for its realistic and nuanced portrayal of Israelis and Arabs alike in the Levant region and beyond.
In January, Fauda became a major hit in Lebanon, as much of the latest season takes place in the small Middle Eastern state where the powerful Iranian-backed terror group Hezbollah operates.
The production team behind the action thriller has reportedly reached an agreement with the Israeli broadcaster YES to produce a fifth season.
Halevi, 48, is married to Arab-Israeli news anchor, reporter, television host and actress, Lucy Aharish.
