On the ground in DC: Egypt, Azerbaijan to attend historic signing, Saudis will not

WASHINGTON — With the historic signing of the Abraham Accords peace treaty scheduled to take place in a few hours, the list of attendees is being finalized and includes some significant players, according to my sources.
- Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to the U.S. Elin Suleymanov is planning to attend — significant because Azerbaijan is only Shia Muslim government that has diplomatic ties with Israel.
- Ambassador Yasser Reda, Egypt’s ambassador to the U.S., is expected to be in attendance. Egypt was the first Arab country to make peace with Israel in 1979.
- Numerous Evangelical leaders — including those I brought to the United Arab Emirates as part of a delegation in 2018 — are also planning to attend this signing ceremony, a prestigious event that also represents an answer to our prayers for peace in the Middle East.
- Not attending will be Her Royal Highness Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, the Saudi ambassador to the U.S. The Kingdom has been silent regarding the two peace deals by their neighbors, but at the same time agreed to open its airspace to all flights to and from Israel.
