Our prayer for American Evangelicals: Vote, mobilize others to vote, trust God’s sovereignty, and love those who disagree with you

JERUSALEM, ISRAEL — Billions of people around the world are closely watching the American elections this week, possibly more closely than they have ever watched before.

So are millions of Israelis.

Why?

Because all of us here in the Holy Land and around the globe have a very palpable sense that whichever candidate wins the presidency, Donald J. Trump or Kamala Harris – and whichever party wins control of Congress – will have a genuine and direct impact on our personal lives, freedoms, security, and prosperity.

ALL ISRAEL NEWS can report that the American campaign is a huge topic here in the Jewish state, and not just among dual citizens who have the right to vote in the American elections.

Nearly every Israeli Christian and Messianic Jew that our staff has spoken to in recent days is talking about the elections, asking questions, trying to understand Trump’s and Harris’ positions on the issues – especially those that affect us – and wondering how long it will take before we know who the real winner is.

Many of us also pray faithfully for our brothers and sisters in Christ in America – here’s what we’re praying for…..

1. We’re praying that every single one of the 60 million Evangelical Christians in America will exercise their God-given right to vote because to refuse to vote or to be too lazy to go to the polls amid such an intense and high-stakes spiritual battle for the soul of America is tantamount to surrender.

2. We’re praying that every Evangelical will mobilize their Christian family members and friends to vote and be willing to drive them to the polls, if necessary, and/or babysit their children, whatever is necessary to make it easier for other Christians to exercise their right to vote.

3. We’re praying that every Evangelical will gather together with other believers on Tuesday to pray for America and her future.

4. We’re praying that every Evangelical will rest in the sovereignty of God as they wait for the final results of their national, state, and local elections. As we read in Daniel 2:20-21: “Let the name of God be blessed forever and ever, for wisdom and power belong to Him. It is He who changes the times and the epochs; He removes kings and establishes kings.” Democracy is wonderful, but ultimately God is in charge. As we read in Job 42:2, “I know that You can do all things and that no purpose of Yours can be thwarted.”

Amen. If the candidate we want does not win, we must trust in the Lord and seek to understand what He is doing, not get angry or despondent because we didn’t get our way.

5. Finally, also praying for a peaceful, calm, and safe Election Day and transition period – and that every Evangelical Christian will remember and put into practice the words of Jesus; that we should love our neighbor as ourselves (Matthew 22:39) and “blessed are the peacemakers” (Matthew 5:9).

As a reminder, ALL ISRAEL NEWS is a non-profit and non-partisan media organization.

We do not – indeed, we cannot – endorse candidates for political office.

Rather, as Israeli followers of Jesus Christ, we seek to honestly, fairly, and faithfully report what’s happening and why it matters, analyze events and trends from a Biblical worldview, and encourage Evangelicals to be “joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer,” according to Romans 12:12.

The stakes for the American people – and the people of the Epicenter – are sky-high this election season.

May the Lord’s will be done and may His people be found faithful, loving, kind, and servant-hearted, come what may.
