Bennett appeals to the Israeli public, encourages those over 60 to get COVID booster immediately
Prime Minister Naftali Bennett appealed to the Israeli public in a statement issued by the Government Press Office:
"Citizens of Israel, good morning.
This is Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.
It is Thursday morning, 5 August.
This is a special statement about safeguarding adults over age 60.
In the next two-to-three weeks, whoever is over the age of 60, and has yet to have been vaccinated, is in especial danger that is six times greater than someone who has been vaccinated a third time, and five days has passed since their third inoculation.
I would like to reiterate, whoever is over the age of 60, and has yet to receive the third dose of the vaccine, is six times more susceptible to severe illness and – Heaven forbid -- death.
Therefore, what am I asking?
I ask that during this period, the next two-to-three weeks, until you go to get vaccinated and wait five days for the third inoculation to take effect, watch yourselves as closely as possible.
Do not go to crowded places. Do not be with people who are liable to be verified cases. If you see your grandchildren, let it be outside in the open air, with masks. We need to get through these two weeks until you are vaccinated."
