Premier Israeli construction company to restore Sderot police station destroyed during Hamas invasion on Oct 7
Just over a year after the Sderot police station was destroyed as a result of Hamas’ Oct. 7 invasion and terror attack, the premier Israeli construction company, Solel Boneh, announced it would rebuild the station.
With approximately 30,000 residents, Sderot was the largest city infiltrated by Hamas terrorists on Oct. 7, 2023. During the attack on Sderot, terrorists killed over 50 civilians and more than 20 police officers.
For nearly a day, Hamas controlled the Sderot Police Station, until the IDF regained control of the station on the morning of Oct. 8. In addition to heavy gunfire, the IDF utilized bulldozers to destroy the station and kill the terrorists occupying it.
Solel Boneh, the company chosen to restore the station, has designed and constructed many of modern Israel’s most iconic buildings.
CEO Asaf Inbar said his company is “very proud to rebuild this station in Sderot as a symbol of spiritual victory,” noting that it has “built nearly all of the state’s most important institutions, such as the Knesset, the National Buildings, and Yad Vashem.”
The Jerusalem Post reported that the new building “aims to restore police presence in Sderot to full strength, strengthen the security of the residents in maintaining the city and the entire region, and commemorate the fallen officers.”
The project is estimated to take about a year to complete after the “new zoning plan is approved by the municipality.”
Solel Boneh, founded in 1921 under the British Mandate, has been responsible for constructing major building projects such as the Government Quarter in Jerusalem, Jerusalem’s King David Hotel, and the Catholic Basilica of the Annunciation in Nazareth, among many others.
