REPORT: Hostage testimonies reveal UNRWA teacher and Gazan doctor held hostages in captivity

Israel’s Channel 13 journalist Almog Boker published testimony on Wednesday by one of the freed hostages that for nearly 50 days of captivity, he was held in an attic by a teacher from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

The UNRWA teacher had barely fed him and neglected his medical needs, the hostage revealed according to the report.

“’Uninvolved,’ they say, right? Well, read this story carefully. One of the abductees, held for nearly 50 days in an attic, reveals he was held by a UNWRA teacher – a father of ten children. This teacher locked the victim away, barely provided food, and neglected medical needs,” Boker wrote on X.

Another hostage was reportedly held by a Gazan doctor.

“But wait, there's more! Another abductee was held captive by a Gazan doctor who, simultaneously, cared for children. These are not isolated incidents; these civilians are terrorists. Present at the Saturday massacre, they're now revealed as integral to holding hundreds captive, including women and children,” Boker added.

The United Nations and other organizations have maintained that UNRWA is not tied to Hamas and that the UN staff knew nothing about where the hostages were kept nor about the use of hospitals by Hamas for military purposes.

Yet, it was revealed earlier this month by UN Watch that UNWRA staff joined the celebration when they heard about the Oct. 7 massacre by Hamas terrorists in Israel's southern border communities.

“As soon as news of the horrific slaughter broke, which was livestreamed on social media by some of the terrorists, United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) staff immediately celebrated and justified it on Facebook,” UN Watch wrote.

“UNRWA has been a breeding ground for Palestinian terrorists from its early day… The perpetrators of the 1972 Munich Olympic Massacre, in which 11 Israeli athletes were murdered… almost all were raised and educated in UNRWA schools…Likewise, Mohamed Deif, the commander of Hamas’s Al Qassem Brigades who masterminded the October 7th massacre, was also educated in a UNRWA school”, according to UN Watch, the Geneva-based NGO, whose mandate is "to monitor the performance of the United Nations by the yardstick of its own Charter.

According to Hillel Neuer, the director of UN Watch, it was impossible for UNRWA not to know what was going on.

“The UN has 13,000 employees in tiny Gaza. They know exactly what's going on… They all knew Hamas' terror infrastructure was in the hospital compound, where Israel wouldn't attack. They lied to the world for 16 years. To paint Israel as evil,” Neuer wrote on X.

Survivors of the Oct. 7 massacre have told reporters that Gazan civilians also participated in the massacre, including women, children and the elderly civilians of Gaza.

“It felt like a whole Palestinian community came and attacked us. After the terrorists came in, they called everybody to come into our homes… teenagers and women came, looting, killing and hurting us on purpose,” one female survivor recalled.

Note: The UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) has denied reports that there is a connection between one of their teachers and an Israeli hostage held in Gaza, demanding a retraction by the post to social media platform X by an Israeli journalist.
