Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine Michael Brodsky, who has been supportive of the war-torn nation, says the embattled country supports 90% of hostile UN resolutions against the Jewish state.

"This is unusual considering Kyiv often turns to the Israeli authorities for various requests," Brodsky told the Ukrainian news outlet ZN.UA.

The ambassador stressed that if Ukraine asks Jerusalem for assistance, it should also support Israel at the United Nations, a forum often criticized for its anti-Israel bias.

"If Ukraine sees Israel as a friendly nation and makes requests from it, then it needs to support us in the matters that are important to us, just as Israel works with Ukraine on matters important to it," stated Brodsky.

On the other hand, Ukraine has long complained that Israeli support has been insufficient since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Israeli Foreign Ministry summoned the Ukrainian Ambassador to Israel Yevgen Korniychuk after Ukraine accused Israel of pro-Russian bias in the Ukraine-Russia conflict.

The Jewish state has provided considerable humanitarian aid to Ukraine, including setting up field hospitals to treat wounded civilian war victims. However, Jerusalem has so far been unwilling to provide military assistance to Ukraine due to its complex ties with Moscow.

Brodsky stressed that Israel needs to balance its support for Ukraine with its important ties to Russia, which controls the Syrian airspace, where Israeli fighter jets regularly operate against Iranian targets.

"This is due to our sensitivity in relations with Russia and the danger that may arise if Israel takes any careless steps that could lead to an aggravation of the situation," explained the Israeli ambassador.
