The United Nations Security Council held another emergency meeting regarding the ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza-based Islamist terrorist organization, Islamic Jihad.

China, Russia, France and the United Arab Emirates have been critical of Israel and demanded closed-door consultations to debate the conflict.

The security council members did not make any public statements due to the closed format of the meeting, however, following the meeting, Israeli Ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, said Israel had succeeded diplomatically in preventing an official condemnation of its defensive military action against the Islamic Jihad terror group.

“We succeeded in stopping a proposal in the UN Security Council to publish a statement condemning Israel,” Erdan told Israeli Army Radio. “The hearing last night ended with nothing,” he added.

Meanwhile, thousands of miles away from UN headquarters in New York, Erdan led a delegation of several UN ambassadors to the Jewish state.

The Israeli ambassador stressed how important it is for UN envoys to experience the challenges of the Jewish state and the threats it is facing.

“The delegation of ambassadors is a major effort that I lead at the United Nations. Bringing UN ambassadors to Israel is an effective way to show the true face of the country,” stated Erdan.
