WATCH: When Jerusalem embraced the north: A story of Israeli national solidarity
While Hezbollah rockets continue to rain down over the north of Israel, Jerusalem has enjoyed relatively quieter days. In order to support communities that are enduring constant sirens and danger, the city of Jerusalem has put on a market fair for artists, farmers and creators from the north.
Communities in the Golan and the Galilee region have found themselves increasingly isolated, and their businesses are suffering due to the absence of people willing to visit the area. In an expression of solidarity, Jerusalem opened up the First Station complex to host a market free of charge for small businesses based in the north.
ALL ISRAEL NEWS correspondent, Kayla Sprague, spoke with some of the local manufacturers and business owners at the two-day event about how they are continuing to work under constant enemy fire.
One artisan said, “This event is great for us because people are not coming to visit us, so we came to Jerusalem and Jerusalem is hosting us nicely.”
Another also expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to do business and meet people after months of isolation, saying, “It's very exciting the people that come to support and to buy. It's great, amazing, thank you… it gives us a lot of hope.”
