West Bank shooting attack involving father and two daughters leaves 3 injured, 1 seriously
Hamas praises “growing resistance” without claiming responsibility for the attack
A shooting attack early Sunday morning left a father seriously wounded and his two daughters lightly injured.
El-Roi Kapach, a resident of the settlement of Nokdim, in Judea and Samaria, was shot by a terrorist in a passing car while driving on the road toward Jerusalem.
Kapach was taken to Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem, where it was announced that he would undergo surgery, following a stabilization in his condition. His daughters were also taken to the hospital and are in good condition, suffering only some cuts from broken glass.
Magen David Adom EMTs and Israel Defense Forces medical personnel treated Kapach on the scene before he was evacuated to the hospital in moderate condition.
United Hatzalah volunteer EMT Leah Klein, who was one of the first responders who treated Kapach said, “Together with EMS personnel from the IDF we treated a man in his thirties for a gunshot wound and two young women, his daughters, for light injuries. The man was in moderate but stable condition when he was transported to the hospital.”
Israeli security forces are still reportedly looking for the suspect responsible for the shooting.
The area of the shooting, referred to as Gush Etzion in Hebrew, has not seen a terror attack in several years.
Gush Etzion Regional Council Mayor Shlomo Ne’eman said, “We all wish a speedy recovery to the person wounded and embrace the security forces who will soon catch the despicable terrorists, and settle the score with them. We will not give in to the terrorists who seek to spill Jewish blood and throw us out of our country.”
The Hamas terror organization released a statement praising the “growing resistance” without claiming direct responsibility for the attack,
“The resistance in the West Bank continues its attacks against settlers, this time attacking in the southern occupied West Bank at a checkpoint stuck near Bethlehem city. Resistance in the West Bank is growing and growing, in response to the occupation's crimes against our people and our holy places. Each time, it can surprise the occupation in place and method of execution. This resistance continues and will continue until our people's goals of freedom and independence are achieved,” according to Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem.
This morning's shooting attack is not the first such tragedy for the Kapach family. In 2005, Kapach’s father and mother-in-law were murdered in a terror attack near the Gaza Strip.
