Who spends the most time playing video games? Israeli kids
According to a recent study conducted by Children’s World, when comparing children aged 7 to 15 from approximately 20 different nations, Israeli children were found to spend more time playing video games than their worldwide counterparts.
Considerably higher than the 50% global average, 65% of Israeli youth spend more than five days a week on their phones or computers. This ranked them in first place regarding the amount of time playing video games, with Italy and Russia in second and third place.
“Spending so much time in front of the screen can lead to cognitive issues, behavioral problems and attention deficit disorders, as well as increased risks of depression and anxiety amongst teens,” said Dr. Dafna Gross-Manos of Tel-Hai Academic College in northern Israel.
While Israel’s video-gaming trend is concerning, when it came to social media, Israeli kids ranked seventh in frequency of use when compared with their peers in other countries.
