Why did 66% of Israelis want Trump to win? Joel Rosenberg tells CBN News why most Israelis trust Trump over Harris

In an interview with CBN news’ Gordon Robertson during election night coverage, ALL ISRAEL NEWS Editor-in-Chief Joel Rosenberg explained why Israelis overwhelmingly see the re-election of Donald J. Trump to the presidency of the United States as a good thing. 

At the beginning of the program, host Gordon Robertson asked Rosenberg about Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to fire Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on election night. 

“How’s that going over in Israel?” Robertson asked. 

“Look, Israelis are divided right now in terms of what we should be looking at most. To our West, we’re looking at your elections in the United States, because we really are very curious, and you’ve got 66% of Israelis that want Trump to win. Only 17% want Kamala Harris. So, that’s very interesting,” Rosenberg stated. 

“We’re watching what you guys are watching right now, but that’s to our West, Rosenberg continued. “To our East, we’re watching the Iran threat, because Iran’s Supreme Leader says he’s going to attack at any moment in a massive retaliatory strike.” 

“In the middle of that,” Rosenberg said, “Prime Minister Netanyahu decides to fire Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, who is a very experienced general, and there is real division here over whether Netanyahu is making the right move.” 

Rosenberg went on to discuss the disagreements between Netanyahu and Gallant, which occasionally spilled out into public disagreements. 

Admitting that he doesn’t know where he stands on the issue, Rosenberg commented, “I’m trying to watch and see what is the rationale that Netanyahu has in the midst of a seven-front war and an imminent attack from Iran, is this the right moment to remove a very experienced and very successful defense minister who has done an astonishingly good job, especially in these last few months.”  

Robertson noted that Netanyahu explained his reasoning for firing Gallant in a statement released later the same evening, which included the public nature of the disagreements, and how that affected the Israeli public and Israel’s enemies. 

Rosenberg responded by referring to the controversial legislation that Netanyahu and his coalition have attempted to pass, to grant funds to ultra-Orthodox men refusing to serve in the military daycare expenses for their children, a policy which Gallant opposed. 

Rosenberg said Netanyahu has a very real fear that his coalition could collapse if he doesn't deliver on coalition agreements to the ultra-Orthodox parties in the coalition, which includes the daycare funds. 

He went on to discuss the overwhelming support among Israelis for Trump over Harris.

“A fifty-point gap tells you that Israelis believe that Donald Trump will be better for Israel. That we will be safer. That he will have our back, Rosenberg noted. 

He said Israelis reject the recent arguments, made in the last few days of the campaign, that “Donald Trump is a fascist, that he’s a Nazi, that he’s like Hitler, that he’s an authoritarian.” 

“Israelis just don’t believe that,” Rosenberg stated. “If you’re decidedly pro-Israel, you’re going with Trump,” he continued. “So Israelis are watching this American election closer than I think we’ve ever watched it before. They all matter to us, but there’s a real, decided policy difference dealing with Israel, dealing with Iran, trying to finalize an Israeli-Saudi peace deal.” 

“Most Israelis and most Americans now believe Donald Trump will be better on those issues, as well as bringing an end to these wars with Hezbollah and Hamas.”
