'Wonder Woman' Gal Gadot secures Israel’s first Walk of Fame star in Hollywood
Israeli actress Gal Gadot made history by earning the Jewish state’s first Walk of Fame star in Hollywood.
Known worldwide for her role as “Wonder Woman,” the 38-year-old actress will receive a star in 2024 alongside other celebrities, such as Gwen Stefani, Michelle Yeoh, Otis Redding and Chadwick Boseman.
Despite residing in the United States, Gadot has not been shy about her Israeli roots.
During an official celebration in Los Angeles this past May for Israel’s 75th anniversary, Gadot openly expressed her love for the Jewish state.
“Israel is my heart and my home. We all here are deeply proud of our Jewish homeland. This celebration is a testament to our unity, our strength,” the Israeli superstar said.
In an era of growing assimilation among many Western diaspora Jews, Gadot stressed the importance of strong identification with the Jewish state.
"As an Israeli living in America, I am very aware of the importance of maintaining a strong connection and of building bridges between the American and Israeli people. Our backgrounds might be different, our journeys unique but our collective goal is shared,” she said.
Gadot has faced some international backlash because of her strong support for Israel.
In 2022, Kuwait banned the Hollywood blockbuster movie, “Death on the Nile,” starring the Israeli actress.
Unlike the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, Kuwait currently refuses to normalize its ties with the Jewish state.
“Our stance on Israel has not changed, following the UAE normalization agreement, and we will be the last to normalize relations,” stated an unnamed senior Kuwaiti official, according to the Al-Qabas newspaper.
