Six Palestinians killed in IED explosion during riots at Gaza border fence
A violent protest involving hundreds of rioters took place near the northern Gaza Strip border fence last night.
Israeli authorities reported rioters throwing Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and grenades.
In one incident, Hamas-affiliated terrorists reportedly tried to detonate an IED at a gate by the border fence. The IED allegedly exploded during the attempt to set it in place.
According to Palestinian sources, six people were killed in the blast, including the son of a well-known Hamas sheikh. Another 19 people were injured in the explosion.
Israeli forces were deployed near the fence and used anti-riot dispersal methods to contain the violent disturbance.
There were no casualties to security forces.
