Israeli Nobel Prize winners issue letter warning against judicial reform
A group of seven Nobel Prize winners released a letter on Sunday warning against the proposed judicial reforms.
In their letter, the prize winners expressed concern for reforms that would compromise Israel’s “clear separation of powers,” that would result in a situation where “the State of Israel will lose its scientific and technological excellence, a loss that will severely damage its economy, security and international status.”
The letter noted Poland, Turkey and Hungary as examples of countries without strong democracies, whose scientific research has also suffered.
“Scientific-technological research and advanced higher education thrive in democratic countries where there is a clear separation of powers,” they explained.
