2 Israelis killed and two others wounded in terror attack in central Israeli city of Holon
Palestinian terrorist was reportedly a resident of Salfit near Ariel
Two Israelis were killed and another two people wounded in a stabbing attack in the central Israeli city of Holon on Sunday morning.
The suspect, reportedly a resident of the West Bank, also known as Judea and Samaria, was killed at the scene by an Israeli police officer who responded.
Magen David Adom EMS personnel were forced to declare the death of a 66-year-old woman at the scene despite efforts to resuscitate her.
Three men were admitted to Wolfson Medical Center in moderate-severe condition, including a 70-year-old, a 68-year-old and a 26-year-old. The older victim later succumbed to his wounds.
After the terrorist was neutralized, police initiated a broad search of the area, including the use of a helicopter, to determine if the assailant had accomplices.
Israel Police later identified the suspect as Amar Razak Odeh (34), from the city of Salfit, south of Ariel.
According to MDA medics, the attacks took place over a distance of at least 500 meters (about 3 miles), as the terrorist sought out multiple targets.
"This was a complex terror attack carried out in three separate locations at a distance of some 500 meters (550 yards) apart," a paramedic, Rami Meushar, told Ynet News.
"In the first [location], we saw a 26-year-old man in moderate condition with a stab wound. In the nearby park, we saw a woman in her 70s who was unconscious, without a pulse and administered resuscitation but unfortunately, we had to pronounce her dead. Another man was seriously hurt, and on the Moshe Dayan road, there was another man in his 70s who was transported in critical condition to the Wolfson Medical Center.”
The 70-year-old man was later declared dead after arrival at the hospital. According to KAN News, the couple were doing morning exercises at the park when they were attacked.
Israel Police spokesman Eli Levy urged Israeli citizens to be vigilant.
"I call on the public to be vigilant these days that the State of Israel is under dozens of alerts for terrorist attacks and wild incitement to terrorism on social media."
Levy also said that whoever has weapons training and a permit should keep their weapon with them at all times.
Former War Cabinet Minister Benny Gantz wrote a message on 𝕏 offering condolences to the family of the woman killed in the attack.
“A hard morning,” he wrote. “I would like to send my heartfelt condolences to the family of the murdered woman in the attack in Holon, to pray for the recovery of all the injured, and to strengthen the members of the security forces and our soldiers who operate at all borders and beyond them – to prevent terrorism and to strike at its perpetrators and their agents.”
