President Herzog to address the nation tonight
This evening at 8 p.m. Israel time, President Isaac Herzog is scheduled to address the nation, as a general strike is planned by many public sectors tomorrow. The strike will take place in an attempt to express opposition to government reforms that legislators are seeking to pass into law.
Teachers have been warned that failure to attend school tomorrow will result in them not receiving pay. Likewise, students who are absent from school will be marked on record for their lack of attendance.
This special broadcast will be made from the president’s residence and is seen to be part of an attempt to reach an agreement between the conflicting parties, as well as lower to the harsh rhetoric which has polarized both sides in what each claims is a threat to democracy.
