LISTEN: Interview about Global Vigil in Düsseldorf to mark horrific and tragic events of Oct 7
Paushali Lass, an organizer for the upcoming "Never Forget October 7th" Global Vigil in Düsseldorf, Germany, spoke with Christian journalist Paul Calvert about the event that will mark the first anniversary of the Hamas' horrific and tragic terror attack on Israel on Oct. 7.
The global vigil is scheduled to begin at 5:29 a.m. in Düsseldorf and mirrors the Israel time of 6:29 a.m., the moment Hamas terrorists invaded the Gaza border on Oct. 7, 2023, and attacked Israel's southern communities, killing 1,200 men, women and children and abducting 251 into the Gaza Strip.
The gathering is part of a broader effort to honor all of the victims and to keep their memories alive.
"We cannot afford to forget them," Lass emphasized, reflecting on the lasting impact of the attack and the continued hostage situation.
The vigil will be held in front of the Düsseldorf Synagogue and is expected to draw a committed group of attendees from the area. In addition to the vigil, there will be a march on Oct. 6, accompanied by music, solemn dances, and speeches, emphasizing the importance of standing against the rising tide of antisemitism in Germany and around the world.
Lass’ connection to Israel has deepened her commitment to this cause, having visited Israel and witnessed the devastating aftermath of the Hamas attack. Her prayer for the event is for "protection" and "the peace that passes all understanding" to comfort all those participating.
With tensions still high in the Middle East, Lass stressed the need for the nations to stand with Israel, particularly in light of the ongoing hostage situation.
"We cannot afford to forget them," she urged, calling on the global community to stand united in memory and in action.
