WATCH VIDEO: What were 2024’s biggest, craziest, most compelling stories – and is Israel heading into prophetic times in 2025?
Three Christian journalists in Israel discuss war, rumors of war, Trump, Bibi, Iran & the future
JERUSALEM, ISRAEL — Without a doubt, 2024 will go down in history as one of the darkest, most dangerous, and yet craziest and most transformative years in the history of the modern Middle East.
It was certainly the most challenging and exhausting year I’ve ever had to cover as a journalist.
To make sense of it all – and to not only look back at the biggest events and lessons of 2024 but to consider how all we’ve seen and heard and reported on may shape events in 2025 – I asked two friends and veteran journalists to spend an hour on Zoom with me.
Chris Mitchell is the Middle East bureau chief for the Christian Broadcasting Network.
He’s lived in Jerusalem and covered Israel and the region for nearly a quarter of a century.
Daniel Cohen – a Jewish believer and an Israeli citizen – is an Emmy award-winning journalist from Southern California who served for four years as the Jerusalem correspondent for Newsmax.
Recently, he moved over to the Real Life Network, an Evangelical Christian media platform founded by Jack Hibbs, a Calvary Chapel pastor and ministry entrepreneur in California.
Over the course of our conversation, I sought their perspective on these seven questions.
What would you say were the biggest, wildest, and most important stories affecting Israel and the broader Middle East in 2024?
Who would you say were the biggest players in Israel and the region – for good or evil – in 2024?
How do you think the Biden and Trump campaigns were affected by events in Israel and the Middle East, and how will the re-election of Donald Trump impact events in the Epicenter?
How would you say the October 7th war has affected Christians and Messianic Jews in Israel and the Arab/Muslim world?
What are the trend-lines and who are the people in the Epicenter that you're watching most closely as we head into 2025?
What biblical prophecies are you studying most closely right now and that you believe could possibly come to pass in the not-too-distant future?
How should Christians be praying for Israel, her Arab and Iranian neighbors, and for the Church in the Epicenter as we head into 2025?
I hope you find the discussion and my colleagues’ insights as intriguing and compelling as I did, and that you’ll be motivated to pray with renewed focus and vigor.
From all of us at ALL ISRAEL NEWS, Happy New Year and may the Lord bless you and your family as you pray for and bless Israel and her neighbors in the name of Jesus.
