Palestinian official warns Iranian presence and influence has already spread throughout the West Bank
Israel has actively countered Iran, which has been trying to entrench itself militarily in Lebanon and Syria
An unnamed Palestinian Authority official from the city of Ramallah recently warned that the Iranian regime already has a presence in the West Bank.
“Iran is already here, in the West Bank,” the PA official told The Jerusalem Post.
The Iranian ayatollah regime is ideologically opposed to the Jewish state’s existence. Tehran is actively fighting against Israel through its vast network of terrorist proxies across the Middle East region.
“The Iranians want their Palestinian agents to extend their control from the Gaza Strip to the West Bank,” the source added.
Israel has been actively fighting against Iran, which has been trying to entrench itself militarily in Lebanon and Syria. In addition, Tehran is reportedly enhancing its influence in the West Bank by backing the terrorist group Islamic Jihad.
“Islamic Jihad is using Iranian money to buy weapons and loyalty in the West Bank,” warned the source in Ramallah. “The organization is paying high salaries to its members,” the unnamed source added.
Despite ongoing tensions between the PA and Israel, both sides have an interest in preventing Islamic Jihad and Hamas from taking over the West Bank. In May, Israel targeted several senior Islamic Jihad commanders in Gaza after the terror group launched rocket attacks against Israeli cities.
While Islamic Jihad suffered significant losses in its latest fight against Israel, including senior leadership and equipment, its Iranian patron claims success.
The Iranian leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei recently hosted senior Islamic Jihad and Hamas terror chiefs in Tehran. Following the meetings, Khamenei vowed to continue Iran’s support of the anti-Israel terror groups.
“Islamic Jihad and other Palestinian resistance movements have found the main key to fighting the Zionist regime. The continually growing authority of resistance groups in the West Bank is the key to bringing the Zionist enemy to its knees, and this of course must be continued,” the Iranian ayatollah leader tweeted.
