REPORT: Hamas used toxic gas to kill IDF soldiers on Oct. 7
Mother of one deceased soldier blames Israeli government for her daughter’s death
A recent investigation has revealed that 15 IDF surveillance soldiers at the Nahal Oz military who were murdered by Hamas terrorists during the brutal attack on Oct. 7, died from a toxic gas that caused suffocation and loss of consciousness.
Hamas terrorists threw an unknown toxic flammable substance into the IDF command center of the base and the fire continued to spread, eventually suffocating and killing the soldiers there, according to a report published by Channel 12 news. Hamas reportedly abducted six remaining soldiers to Gaza as hostages.
“They set fire to materials that ignited and spread, which contained toxic gases that could cause suffocation in a few minutes or even less than that,” Channel 12 quoted the investigative reporter.
The Nahal Oz base, which is less than half a mile from the Gaza border, was one of the first targets attacked by Hamas terrorists on the morning of Oct. 7, when at least 3,000 terrorists invaded southern Israel and proceeded to kill, rape, burn and torture their way through more than 20 communities, resulting in the deaths at least 1,200 people and kidnapping another 240 hostages into Gaza.
The mother of one of the soldiers who was killed at the Nahal Oz base, Cpl. Shirel Mor, 19, told the Kan public broadcaster on Tuesday that she holds the Israeli government responsible for her daughter’s death.
“It wasn’t only Hamas who killed our children. It was the government, the decision-makers in the army, they were also accomplices,” Edna Mor told reporters, adding that the “baseless hatred in the streets for eight months,” played a role in the Israeli state’s failure to protect its citizens against the savagery of Hamas on Oct. 7. Mor's comment about the "hatred in the streets" was a reference to the protests and divisions in Israeli society over the government’s judicial overhaul since January 2023.
Mor told Kan that no senior officers visited her to discuss what happened or even to deliver condolences following her daughter’s murder.
“They are afraid to come to us,” the mother said, referring to the officers. “So who’s coming? The ones who are new there. The really senior ones, those who are in charge of the border, don’t come. They send junior officers. It’s not that they’re ashamed. They don’t have any shame; if they didn’t guard our borders then they have no shame. They’re just afraid that we will finish them off here at home,” she added.
The distraught mother said she didn't know how to continue without her daughter and that those responsible for the failure would have to go to prison.
“She was put here for 20 years to educate me, her father, and her older sister and older brother. She contributed so much at home.”
“How will I live? I had her at 40 years old; I gave myself a gift. They took her from me and they are guilty. I want to take all the rugs out of their cabinet, they’re always sweeping everything under the rug. I want those who are guilty to sit in prison. I, personally, and many other parents, will not accept resignations… they need to sit in prison without rank and without a pension,” Mor argued.
