US gives go ahead to NATO to send fighter jets to Ukraine

The United States gave the "green light" to NATO countries to send fighter jets to Ukraine, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Sunday, potentially widening the theater of war in eastern Europe.
Blinken's remarks, on the CBS program “Face the Nation,” come just a day after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appealed to members of U.S. Congress via Zoom for more support, including fighter jets, and to declare Russian President Vladimir Putin a war criminal.
“That gets a green light, in fact, we’re talking with our Polish friends right now about what we might be able to do to backfill their needs if, in fact, they choose to provide these fighter jets to Ukraine,” Blinken said.
