Driver confesses to hit-and-run of two IDF reservists, blames the weather
A Palestinian Arab driver, who accelerated into two Israel Defense Forces reservists as they crossed the road at Tapuah Junction near the city of Ariel on Tuesday evening, turned himself in to local authorities.
The reservists, both men in their 30s, were taken to Rabin Medical Center at Beilinson Hospital after the incident, one lightly injured and one moderately, with an open-hip fracture, reported The Jerusalem Post.
The driver, a resident of Nablus, who initially fled the scene, claimed that a storm on the same evening had caused poor visibility due to fog. He is being investigated for possible terror charges.
This incident follows a number of terror attacks during a period of unrest in Israel, including Friday night’s terror attack near a Jerusalem synagogue and the shooting of an off-duty soldier and Magen David Adom volunteer on Saturday in the Old City.
