Israeli Foreign Ministry cadets visit Bahrain for the first time
Last week, cadets of Israel’s Foreign Ministry made a historic visit to Bahrain as part of their diplomacy training.
While there, they met with Bahrain’s Minister of Youth, Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfeeqi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, and Israel’s Ambassador to Bahrain Eitan Naeh.
During the meeting with Tawfeeqi, the Youth Minister spoke of the importance of exchange visits between the two countries, particularly among the youth.
The Israeli cadets met with a Bahraini youth delegation in Israel before departing on their own trip.
The cadets also traveled to the United Arab Emirates, where they visited the Crossroad of Civilizations Museum in Dubai. The Crossroads museum contains the first Holocaust exhibition in an Arab country.
The visits by the cadets are meant to train them in the art of diplomacy. Dana Koresh, head of the bureau for Personnel training and development at the Foreign Ministry said, "During the recruitment stages, we assure the cadets that the profession of diplomacy also allows them to be partners in the 'making of history.' The study visits of the cadets to countries of the Abraham Accords is exactly a part of this."
Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen said, "The arrival of Foreign Ministry cadets to the Gulf countries is another fruit of the peace agreements and a strategic part of the Foreign Ministry's activities to strengthen the agreements and expand them to other countries."
The cadets also met Houda Ezra Nonoo, the first Jewish ambassador from an Arab country. She was ambassador from Bahrain to the U.S. from 2008-2013.
